Job Summary: Molecular informatics postdoctoral fellowships are
available for bioinformaticians and computational biologists who are looking to
acquire informatics skills working as part of several major genome annotation
and array and re-sequencing-based projects being conducted at Washington
University, including Washington University's recently established Center for
Biomedical Informatics (CBMI).
Essential Functions: The positions involve developing novel data
repositories and software applications, applying these tools to support and
facilitate translational research, and supporting the educational mission of
the CBMI.
Preferred Qualifications: Candidates should have a Ph.D. in
bioinformatics, computational biology or related field and significant
experience in software engineering and information technology.

Job Summary: Clinical informatics postdoctoral
positions are available for medical and clinical informaticians who are looking
to acquire significant experience in this growing field.
Essential Functions: The positions involve Unified Modeling
Language (UML)-based object model construction for representation of medical
and clinical study information using well-established data standards,
ontologies, and vocabularies, support of clinical research activities,
development of software applications to warehouse and query the electronic
medical record, and integration of clinical, pathology, and genome-wide
profiling information.
Preferred Qualifications: Candidates should have a M.S. or Ph.D. in
medical informatics or related field and experience in software engineering and
information technology.

Job Summary: Manages software projects, including overseeing team tasks,
development of project plan, input in use cases/requirements, design, and
object model, and timely submission of deliverables.
Essential Functions:

Manages, organizes, and oversees software engineering teams (size 3-20).

Develops project plan based on development cycle.

Handles individual assignment of tasks and resource management.

Contributes to use cases and requirements, design, and object model.

Ensures project milestones are met.
Critical Skills/Expertise: Excellent oral and written communication,
management, and interpersonal skills. Ability to see the ‘big picture’ and
decompose into manageable and concrete tasks. Understanding of one or more
biomedical informatics domains (e.g. medical informatics, clinical trials
informatics, or molecular informatics) is desired. Required software
technologies include:

Proficiency in object oriented languages, UML, and RUP.

Experience developing middleware and web-based and rich client applications.

Job Title: Biomedical Informatics Specialist. Apply.
Job Summary: Assists in developing and conducting research projects,
including experiment design, data analysis and documentation of experiment
results.
Essential Functions:

Analyzes data from high-throughput, massively parallel genomic data sets using
existing software applications.

Designs, develops, and implements minor enhancements to analysis and
visualization tools to serve custom needs of each analysis performed in #1.
-
Installs bioinformatics software applications on end users’ computer.
-
Trains and provides technical support to end users on commonly used
bioinformatics applications.

Evaluates commercial and academic bioinformatics software.
Critical Skills/Expertise: Analytical, reasoning and problem solving
skills. Good understanding of computational biology. Ability to analyze and
interpret large complex data sets such as sequences, microarray gene expression
studies, human genetic studies and model organism studies and to communicate
data in a clear, concise manner. Expertise in standard bioinformatics tools.
Working knowledge of regulatory networks, Hidden Markov Models and profile
methods, human genetics (SNP etc.). Educated in standard molecular biology
techniques (PCR, qRT-PCR, Northern Blots). Expertise in molecular and
functional genomics techniques is desired. Required software technologies
include:

Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as C/C++, Java and Perl.
